Rear hatch struts
This may have been covered previously, but does anyone know what size the torx screw is for the rear hatch strut? I don't want to buy a whole set of bits, just the right size to complete my strut change out. Already done with the hood, bye bye stick!

Actually, the round end was a T50 torx, and the rectangular end was held on by a 5/16 bolt and washer. I found out the torx size by trial and error. I went to Auto Zone and got a T55 and T60 and went home and test fitted them; too big. So, I went back and exchanged for a set of five torx which cost only $.01 more than the first two. I no longer have to use a stick to hold up the rear hatch!

you have to do that too huh? lol. I figure it does not bother me. i am never back there anyhow since all my stereo stuff is in the back, and nothing else will fit (no storage area anymore) and i figure thata heavy friggen hatch is going to deter a one man job since it is hard to remoe anything with a 100+ pounds of glass and metal pushing down on you from above.

Hey - and for anyone looking at replacing yours - make sure you get the right size. I deliberately bought the "larger" struts, figuring maybe they'd last longer or something (i don't know WHAT i was thinking, but it sure wasn't straight). Anyways, to make a long story short, they are some tough-a** struts, and it takes a little effort to close my hatch (these were supposed to be for the cars that have the rear window wiper). Guess maybe I'll get those louvers after all - the extra weight would be welcome!
