Door lock solenoids (door popper and remote starter ?'s)
So heres the low down. My Ex gave me a DEI Valet 552T remote start/keyless entry system before we broke up. Ive been thinkin about using the remote starter on it, and then using the keyless entry to power the door lock solenoids to open the door when I shave my handles. The remote starter I can probably handle. But Im havin problems with the door popper solenoid/door lock solenoid.
See, For some reason, the only harness this thing didnt come with was the keyless entry harness that goes into the Valet module. There is a harness that will let you hold one of the buttons on the remote for 5 seconds (i think it was 5), and it will send 12v to whatever you need. So I was thinkin about usin that for one of the door lock solenoids, but I dont know what kind of solenoids GM used in our cars. Do they "open" when they get 12v and then close when the circuit is cut, or is it reverse polarity where I need to have 12v goin one way to open, and then send 12v back the other way to close? Ill try and attach some pics of the install guide. they in PDF format right now
