Help. Heater Cold/Hot Slider
Help. Heater Cold/Hot Slider
I have a little problem. The slider that changes ur hot and cold setting conncts to the little arm under the dash. My problem is the little aluminum arm under there broke off and now i dont have a way to change it. I was wondering if anyone else has this problem and what they did to fix it. Does it come out or what. If u dont understand i could try to take a pic.

Mine's broke too and I tried getting one at a junkyard only to find that it seems permanantly attached to the plastic panel/door that it controls. As soon as I have space and time (that could be a long time from now), I'm going to see about removing all that panel mess and get one from Hawk's. Until then, when the weather changes from cold to hot - I get under there with some pliers and change it myself.
Sad but true

I actually broke mine trying to fit the antenna up inside the dash (shaved the antenna and needed some kind of reception). Trying to remove just the little alluminum part at the yard made me break it instad of remove it.
If you end up getting a part to fix it - PM me at least so I'll know.

A stereo installer dude broke mine. I used a tiny pair of vice grips and clamped them onto the remaining piece. Then the hook on the cable fit into a hole on the vice grips. It works perfectly. Will initially have to play with the position of the vg so it opens and closes right. Mine has been like that now for 6 years and it has full travel from cold to hot.

the only piece left of mine is the center pivot section. The rest of the alluminum (or whatever crappy material it is) crumbled off. I don't know why GM designed it so cheap.

Mine is the same way also. I have tried to get a used one to, but you can't change it out. So I reach under the dash with some plillers to change it. It is not that hard just a pita.
