Fiberglass fabrication, scratch-build??

Does anyone here know anything about building fiberglass panels/fixtures from scratch? What materials are involved, how you mold it/ form the shape/ etc.?

I have another sport coupe 6-bang Camaro without a spoiler, and I was thinking about building a spoiler for it that is more like the one on the 2nd gen Z28 (taller). I don't want it to be QUITE as tall as the old 2nd-Gen's, as it wouldn't look quite right on a 3rd Gen---but I wanted something a little taller than stock.

How do I fabricate something like that out of fiberglass?

I don't know a whole lot about fiberglassing...I'm kind of learning as I go. I'm in the process right now of fiberglassing some custom 4th gen style door panels. I have a DVD series that shows a lot about fiberglassing. I know that for body kits, they put a foam or putty on the car and get the shape they want. They then take a two part expanding urethane foam and make a mold. Once they have the mold, they simply lay the fiberglass and resin in the mold, and then you have the piece you're looking for. That's just my 2 cents...i'm sure someone on here is a little more knowledgable.

I'm not sure how much it costs...you could make a foam spoiler by going to a marine supply shop, they have expanding foam there. Then just use that to make the spoiler the height and shape you want. Do a search on the internet for two part expanding urethane foam and you should get a lot of results. Then all you have to do is take the foam and make a mold of the spoiler. That's how I would do it.
