I know there's one guy (can't remember his name) that'll post up once he sees it. The only reason I'm NOT painting my car black is becuase I don't want to be called Knight Rider.

This car was built by someone that actually worked on the set for Knight Rider, highly modified and used in the Formula Drifting series here in the USA:

I've never been a Knight Rider fan, but anyone that kills tires gets a from me.

I agree I just bought a Firebird and I'm gonna build a KARR replica. Got the bird for $50 bucks. I'm gonna post pics of it as soon as my tow truck buddy brings it home.

i will one day have a KARR replica. (exterior only, i like my current dash)

so far i have added
power bulge hood (still needs work)
i have 14" turbo cast fin wheel (not on yet, waiting) with caps
i have 1 15" turbo cast wheel, no cap.

stuff i will get:
flat 42-84? style lights
blackout for rear lights
paintjob (two tone black over grey. a 4th season KARR replica)
nose/scanner

stuff i may get:
82-84 rear bumper (without little rubber bits)
tinted windows/hatch

stuff i will never get/don't want
trans am fender vents (ugly)
interior (too damned expensive)

This week's episode of Dream Car Garage, on Speed channel, has a segment on a Kitt car, looks like the real thing right down to the steering wheel (wheel?). Bash it all you want, but that car sold thousands of Firebirds back in the day.

The car on Dream Car Garage is a replica made by Rob Louisell up in Michigan. The car does look nice. The show is a repeat and I loved seeing it the first time around.

Yeah, these guys are a real pair, if it's not European or a Shelby or Corvette, it isn't worth talking about. Still an interesting show sometimes and they aren't pushing expensive parts through the whole show.

If you have ground effects dont even waste your time. I was going to do the whole knight rider front bumper thing until i found out that they dont make one with ground effects nor will they even try.

In other words, only consider doing it if your firebird doesn't have ground effects.

i dont have ground fx. the karr front end would look great.

and the two tone paint on KARR in the second episode was awsome, smoke silver and black made karr look like a shark.

but im sticking with all black.

This is why I'm about to change the Knight Replica Industry! In the coming few weeks, there will be the COMPLETE interior electronics at prices we've NEVER seen!

my car

Ive just joined up here, ive got a KITT replica im working on, the cars originally a white 87 GTA, but it was partly converted when i got it with a terrible spray paint job and hardly any interior, so i like to think im rescuing the car more than anything else. otherwise i wouldnt of touched a GTA because they are generally so nice.

the car came out of the paint shop a couple of weeks ago and looks really nice, now im focusing on getting the interior sorted out. ideally i want set of 15" turbo cast wheels too but they are gettin rare and expensive so it doesnt look like i will be having them anytime soon.

Black is so good.

But I think the extendo air foils coming out of the body work at speed would be **** cool. Even better if made functional.

I assume you mean super pursuit mode. Its possible, lets say when you hit the button super pursuit mode hydralic rams, or electric, push out the nose, the black oval objects, the rear of the car, and the turbo hood (this one would be hard to figure out). Then If you did that you have to do the Emergency brakes for super pursuit mode.

My biggest complain about the front was in front of the scanner the bumper has a raise in it, if they made that flush in look better. Also why would s super powerful AI car be riding on the small turbo rims and bowling ball hub caps? Wouldn't GTA snowflakes with black centers make more sense for a fast car?

Thats just me. I have no problem with KITT or KARR. But Ialso happen to like the style of stock birds and TAs.

Re: who has a knight rider replica?

I have an 88 Formula that I am converting into my own replica. I don't want the tan interior so I'm only doing the exterior for now. It started out white and I have already painted it. I'm getting the front bumper from Jay Ohrberg in a couple months. Only change I've made to the interior is that I converted from the stock dash to a GTA digital dash. All the pictures I currently have are uploaded here...

http://s636.photobucket.com/albums/u...murf/Firebird/

I still need to tint the windows too. Hoping to have the exterior complete by the end of August when I'll be driving it from Chicago to L.A. via Route 66.

Your getting a car in Chicago and driving it to L.A ?? Man I see so many good candidates for a KR replica in L.A on craigslist

uhh there is already a KR club the L.A area called "Knights Of The West Coast" they have a good chunk of KR people in the area,I know one gal is in Upland and the most POPULAR KITT replica in the hobby is in Monterey Park. That car was featured in the David Hasselholff roast on Comedy central and the guy is a friend of mine aswell.

Yes but I already OWN the car. I am from Chicago and started my work on the car there. I moved to the LA area after I got back from being deployed and I'm going to Chicago to pick it up. No rust and garage kept.
