How do you tell new vs old Hatch part

I have a 1989 Iroc. Does that mean I have the old style hatch assembly? The plastic housing broke and I want to replace it. I have looked at several pictures of each on TDS site but cant tell the difference. Anybody know an easy well to tell differance? Thanks!
