shift ****

This may be a stupid question to most of you but how do I remove the shift ****?

85 TA w/T-Handle

try doing a search for "removing shift handle" or something like that.. I found many threads...one with a diagram, but not sure if its for your exact handle..

also, if it is the one I'm thinking about with the button on the side... I'm pretty sure there is a clip on the backside of it that you have to pull out and the handle will slide off....

search would probably be your best bet though

pull the shifter down to first to make it easier, then just get a pair of plyers or wire cutters and look on the front part of the base of the shift **** for a little slot......use the pliers or wire cutters to grab onto the little clip, pull it out, and lift up :-P

Little flat head screw driver works to pull out the clip too.
