Firebird interior parts?

Got a question, i will eventually be getting a third gen firebird of some type, which i will want to restore to its original look, especially the interior.

How hard is it to obtain replacement interior components, such as the dash, instrument cluster, steering wheel, door panels, arm rest, seats, etc. Are these parts still available through the GM dealers, i assume GM has discontinued these parts by now? Especially to the older T/A's such as the '82.

If they are not available through the parts department of the dealers, where are good places to obtain such parts? I have done some searching but none seem to have the major cosmetic peices such as the steering wheel, arm rest, and dash. Which always seem to come thrashed in older cars. Thanks.

Some parts may still be available, but everyday that list gets smaller. Year One and Classic Industries carries parts. Otherwise you'll have to find many things second hand. Some of the sponsors up top have stuff, Ebay, the classifieds, etc...

Might take some searching but I can't think of anything that I have not been able to find with a little snooping around.

Good luck finding any 82-84 styled interior pieces. They are virtually non existent New Old Stock.

Your best bet is junk yards and with that you'll find a bunch of busted up junk before you'll find anything in "cherry" condition for restoration purposes.

At least that's been my experience trying to fix up my bird.

i got lucky actually and found a older style dash parts at my local junk yard... i actually found 2nd hand parts faster for the 82 firebird then i did for the 87 iroc but that may be luck.

Best bet is second hand parts cars, local upick it junk yards and ebay and you should be sailing. If your trying to get mint mint stuff your ganna be screwed. Everyone just loves to beat on 3rd gens.
