Adhesive won't bond with plastic headliner board?

Over the summer, I pulled my old headliner because it was sagging horribly. The factory headliner board was desintigrating too, so I ordered a plastic headliner board from Classic Industries. I used 3M adhesive when I covered it. Now, 3 months later the cloth is starting to separate from the board. You can rub the cloth and it seems like the adhesive is still tacky. The thought of pulling the headliner out again and recovering it with winter comming up is really irritating me. Do any of you guys have any advice on what kind of adhesive will hold well with a plastic board? Thanks for any input.

Do you know what the 3M adhesive you used was?. There is a 3M adhesive that is pacifically for headliner board and it can take high temperature. I don't know how hot it gets in summer where you live but a car roof can be subjected to very high temperatures. Most adhesives can't take very high temperature. 3M make an adhesive, the number If I remember correctly is 02090. I have seen it in the classic industries catalog. This is a high temperature, heavy duty, headliner adhesive. If you are redoing your headliner try this.

Yeah, check your can of 3m, you probably used the wrong one. They have a heavy duty apolstery glue that specifically says not to use it for headliners. There is a 3M glue just for headliners. Autozone also sells one, can't remember the name, and it's just for headliners. Remember, your looking for something that is to be used with foam backed material.

Hope that helps.
