Door latch not working

On my '89 350 TA (kinda old now) for a couple years now -
the Right passenger door (which I NEVER use or used much)
(get no passengers in my bird)...

The door latch does not quite catch and lock in. It will only catch like half -way and then is left ajar but it will stay
slightly closed when driving but it AINT definitely locked and shut all the way.

HOW DO YA FIX this ?

It seems in the hot summer I can WD-40 or grease it a bit and it will finally catch and close completely BUT after slamming or gently shutting the dooor about 100 times.

Anybody kwow how to fix WITHOUT taking the shole door apart????

Does the cold weather and temp cause the metal to shrink a little and during the hot summer things work lil better and the metal kinda expands ?? Seems like this is happening too.

It's getting cold and I need this door to shut correctly.

I aint gonna open it again EVER - once I get this stupid Heater core problem fixed ( I hope)....

Mannnn - I got LOTS of problems with this bird.
PLS HELP!

it most likely needs to be adjusted. If the door is sagging then you iwll need to fix that. You can do a quick fix by adjusting the stricker on the door frame. it may need to come down of go up a little. I think its a torq bit that loosens it. Try that and see if it helps. TDS( one of our sponsors) sells a kit that fixes the sagging doors.
