Parking lamps

ok, i know this is a stupid question but i cant seem to figure it out, on the radiator support, how do the parking lamps bolt down, reason im asking is, when i bought my car someone jerry rigged up some flathead screws with nuts on the bottom of them to hold them in place and it looks tacky. whats the factory method consist of for the parking lamps, 8-10mm bolts with washers and a nut underneath or is there a threaded clip that is suppose to be there?

I agree with the threaded clip which most refer to as a speed nut or J-clip.That's how most parts are fastened if it's not going into a threaded hole or held on with a regularnut/lock washer.
