Rear Hatch shade repair

My rear hatch shade doesn't retract as it used to do. Is there a way to repair it other than replacing it or is there a repair kit for hatch shades which I can buy to repair mine.

Thanks

The springs that retract is are weak
Best bet is to buy one off ebay or somewhere $30-ish
I took the ends off a floppy one and never cold get it to wind tighter or reassemble correctly for that matter

Mine did the same thing when I bought the car. I just pulled it out and rewound the flat tab carefull enough that it wouldn't release. I have had no problems with it since. I works the same as a window shade. But try to rewind the spring slowly and let it catch and lock itself each rotation and slowly set it back into the car. If you wind it up and jam it back into the slot in the car it most likley will unwind itself.

Your really better off doing what 91z28ttop said or geting one off of ebay. Just make sure you wind it slowly. The springs wear out pretty fast. And unfortunately the parts are discontinued, so there's no use in going to a chevy dealer. (just checked that yesterday actually)

Some dealers may still have them. When I was looking for one, my local dealer did a query (or national stock check) for location and found some at out of state dealers. All I had to do was call one of those dealers to order it and ship it to me. I got lucky on price, they go for about $100, got mine brand new with hardware for $25 plus shipping. Your best bet, I think, is still with E-Bay.
