plastic windshield molding

Curious but I've completely repainted my 84z, when I stripped it down the old window molding was missing some of the bead. Anyway I cut all of it off around the circumfrence of the window, I dont suppose I'll have to take the car over to a window shop and have them take the windshield out in order to put a complete new molding in? Anyone been this route and is it right? Thanks fella's

I was told that for GMs you gotta take out the window to replace the moulding. Worth the $100 or so if you're doing a complete job though

I got the molding from GM and it popped right in without taking the windshield out.

windshield molding.

Appreciate all of your inputs, I'll look at whats sitting around the windshield because there is alot of windshield adhesive from the factory there and see if the rest will come out carefully without cracking the glass, otherwise off to the glass shop it goes, paying them a hundred is cheaper than more because of me being over indulgent thinking I can when I cant. Appreciate.
