I have a question for those who have used POR 15

I am going to be using some POR 15 in my engine bay and I was wondering if I need to spray my top coat over the POR 15 while it is still tacky? Can I spray my color on after the POR 15 has dried with success?

I would wait at least 24 hours before paint is applied. It worked out fine for me this way. I went on a friends advice, he was right in my case. The paint looks great.

POR-15 says to apply the top coat while the POR-15 is still a little bit tacky. Otherwise, you should use a special primer from the company before you apply the topcoat.

POR-15 dries pretty smooth and hard, so if you wait too long the topcoat may not have enough "tooth" to grip onto, and may not last as long.

In my case I used the primer. Forgot to mention that. So I guess either way will work. If you spray while tacky you can save $$$$ on(not buying) primer !
Live and learn. Next time.

Well I don't have the top coat yet and I want to make some progress. I will probably just buy thier primer it is less than $20 for a pint.

I personally would not por 15 an engine bay. Someone on this board did it and it looks bad in my opinion.
