Steering Shaft Help!

OK, here is my dilemma: I stripped one of the 4 bolts trying to tighten the tilt steering column......so i pulled out the column to repair the threads the right way...

My front end is getting a rebuild as well, so all of my steering parts and struts, etc are all off.

My question is this: am I going to have to finish the front end rebuild first and have the car on the ground to put in the repaired column? ...I'm afraid that if i put the steering column back in, it won't line up correctly. Does this make sense?? I just don't want to put my column in, finish up the front end and have the steering wheel/shaft all out of whack.

This is my first time doing this, so I wanna make sure i dont screw it up. Thanks

I've never done it like that but can't imagine any problems with installing the column with the front end apart. If your gearbox is still in just line it up with the gearbox at center.
