center console removal?

Im trying to do a custom black to gray interior conversion.

I'm still on progress but I was thinking, after I change carpet and doorpanel,
my middle console will still be black, and I know they only come black..

so I want to paint them.

for those of you who've taken the center console before,
is it hard/tedious?

I was just wondering
if i need seats and carpets, shifters and parking brake needs to me removed
before taking the center console.. because if so
I'll plan on doing it on some other time, when I have way more time..

thanks in advance

I took out the seats, gives you better access. Can't really take out the carpet before the center console as the carpet goes underneath the console. You would need to remove the **** on the shifter and the cover on the parking brake.

It doesn't take that much time really.

It's pretty simple. Luckily these cars were built like real cars and everything is either screwed or bolted on. I figured it out on my first try.
