Rust Rust Rust...

Well guys, I'm really reaching out here. After I get done the work on my motor this weekend, the money I make thereon is going into getting the rust taken care of on my body. There is rust in my passenger quarter, and I have rust in each wheel well along the edge. Also, one nice dent in the driver's fender.

I just was wondering how much money it would cost to get all of this fixed. Is any of this easy enough to fix in my parking lot? (I live in apartments). I think I may be able to take care of the wheel wells, but the quarter is damaged on three planes, making it difficult to work on it seems.

The first three pics are of the ticket item...the quarterpanel.

Then we have the wheel well damage. All of the wells look like this to an extent.

And finally, the dent in the fender.

Anyone have ANY help at all? What did you end up doing for your rust repairs? Anyone have Links to DIY body work, websites for tool and sheet metal purchasing...anything? I am looking at getting this done next summer, and I want to start my planning now.

Please, help me to stop my IROC from falling to pieces

you can find a small time auto body guy locally to do that for you for a real good deal,

its nothing for these guys to do these kinds of repairs,

this is how i am having my 82 trans am QP done, it has about the same rust as yours back there, and the spare wheel tub bottom is ate out gone

a piece of metal and a talented metal shaper and body hammers fixes it real easily, these guys know what they are doing

i have a retired body man as a neighbor he is getting real old but he knows his stuff and still does autobody work for ppl on the side and for himself, he does some wild work

ask around, you will soon find out who to get a hold of in your town

dont need to go to some big fancy shop, and get ripped off

good luck

Ughhh ouch. To my knowledge that kind of work costs more than a rolling chassis, which is why I held out and bought a 3rd gen with no rust at all. You could do it yourself but chances are since your a first time body worker it wont look very good. Best bet is to find a rolling chassis or goto the junk yard and pull panels off another Camaro.

Yeah IE the price of rolling chassis. I dont mean to discourage but from what I was always warned about from my father when you go to fix minor to moderate rust damage on a full metal car like ours you usually start tearing it apart and finding more.

Getting a junkyard fender/bumper (if you need that too) is your best bet for fixing the front. And like they said, an experienced body guy that can cut and weld is the only way you're going to get good results with rust like that. Go to car shows and ask around for good body shops.
