Rear hatch lift struts?

ì'm in need of some new lift struts for my '85 Z28, as the ones i have no longer keep the hatch stable in the open position.

Parts are a little difficult to come by, as i live in Norway, so i'm looking at different dealers online. Most of them lists different struts for "with spoiler" and "without spoiler". Well, what is considered a spoiler on these cars? As far as i can recall there is a small rear spoiler on all models (the one that sticks about an inch out and an inch up).. Are they referring to the spoilers that were on some of the '90-92 models?, or is the difference related to the firebirds? iIm getting a bit confused, as you can probably tell. Anyone care to straighten this one out for me?

also, if anyone has recomendations of online part shops with a good selection of parts, that are OK to deal with (i really dont need a slow/messy supplier when sitting on the other side of the planet)

Also, while i'm at it, what is the story behind that rear luggage compartement cover? The one that covers the rear luggage well behind the gas tank/rear end "bulge" in the floorpan.. As my cas has t-tops, i thought that cover would originally be there, to have a place to keep the t-top bag. Tho, in this car, the cover, and the bag is missing, together with the rear carpet. got hold of a carpet yesterday, and fitted it, but when doing that i noticed that the screws that normally sticks out for attaching the cover hinges arent there. (these were there on my previous '86 z28, where i had to get hold of the same parts... people keep removing them to build stereos) But what were the reason for having it fitted in the first place? Was that cover standard on all t-top cars, or was it an option?

idk if you have any auto parts stores near you but the struts for our cars are pretty generic. I called up NAPA auto who delivered them without any questions for dirt cheap.

I sell the rear hatch struts on my web site. The hinged rear hatch cover was an option. The t-tops don't stow below it. They went into the t-top bag. The straps of the bag clipped onto loops located on the rear hatch surround trim panel and on the hump above the gas tank.

OK, so the rear hatch was an option... i thought it was nessecary to keep the t-top cover properly in place, but apparently then it is not nessecary. Thank you for the clarification.
Apparently you sell only one type of struts for that application. That sorta solves my problem i've just gotta think through a bit, to see what more i need that can be shipped in the same package. (as i still am on the other side of this blue-ish ball we call a planet).

my storage compartment (and every other i've seen) have no screws for the hinges

they are just molded on with a creased piece of plastic that acts as the hinge

you'd probably have to replace that whole rear hatch trim piece to get one

Camarogeddon is referring to the mounting of the optional hinged rear cargo lid that fills the space between the hump above the gas tank and the rear hatch surround trim panel. Not to be confused with the rear cargo shade or the side storage compartment.
