Frankenstein T Tops?

I have never taken a T Top mechanism apart before. I am wondering if I can take two T Tops, one being a Lexan top with large attaching pins and the other being a glass top with small pins and combine them to have a Glass top with the large pins. Can they be taken apart in such a manner?

Well, I would put one of each next to each other and start taking them apart. I'm thinking the mechanisms would switch up. I'm thinking it could be done, but I dunno 100%. I do remember seeing some rivits in there somewhere. But I think they where holding the lock in place.

Good luck and let us know

Yes you can, the cover is held on by a few screws and then you can swap all the guts of the unit easily

I had to swap a large pin glass to small pin to replace my small pin lexans

Additionally, large pin is only a fat piece of removable plastic on the end of the pins, take it off and viola you got small pin again

Making the swap is simple. Leave the t-top alone, no Frankensteining necessary. Just get the proper sized retainers, the 4 things that bolt to the car's roof that hold the t-tops in place. Remove your old ones (two small screws/bolts) and install the new retainers. Voila, done. You know the pieces I am talking about?
