Strengthening the uni-structure
Strengthening the uni-structure
Hello, I’m looking for information on strengthening the uni-Structure of a third Gen F-Body. I have heard from people that if you plan to put more than 400hp or 400 ft-lb of torque to it you can end up with some twisting in the body. I have a 1983 Trans-Am Coupe(No T-TOP) that I have taken down to bare metal. My plan is to do a street car with a 383 stroker putting out anywhere from 400 Hp & torque to 500hp & torque. If any one has any information on how to go about this plz post or redirect me to where I can find info

Subframe connectors are the way to go. Also, a good cage will help. Do a search for that stuff, should bring up lots of results! Otherwise post up some more questions! Welcome aboard!

I would imagine that the following are the most significant methods of strengthening the chassis, from greatest to least:
1. Cage
2. Sub-Frame Connectors
3. Strut Tower Brace
4. Aftermarket Wonderbar
Between 3 and 4, I am not sure which is more effective.
