BEST WAY TO ADJUST HATCH?? WAY OUT
I read the tech article about how to adjust the hatch but it doesn't make much sence to me. I took everything off and there is no way to adjust it. On my camaro its so far off that it won't line up with the pull down motor. I'm think it might have been from the previous owner and with people sitting on the car back there. May have bent the hatch mounts. Does that sound right. Does anyone else have this problem. What did you do to fix. I'm thinking i need to by new mounts. Any suggestions would be great!! Thanks

skip the tech article, it takes 2 people and is more hassle than its worth going that route.
this is what i did and i EASILY did it by myself. pop the struts off the sides of the glass and then remove the struts from the body. then pop off the panel for the hatch motor and drop it into the storage compt. loosen the 4 nuts under the panel between the hatch glass and headliner and then go to the back of the car and scoot the glass around till your happy with where it sits. when your happy cinch down the 4 nuts and then loosely mount the hatch motor and shut the hatch. this will pre set its adj. and cinch it down from inside.also loosen the hatch hook.
now that the motor is somewhat set , to get it tto snug the glass just move it down in small incriments. and i mean SMALL incriments. it dosent take much to get it right. after the motor is adj thisd process will also pretty uch set the hatch hook. all in all you should spend roughly 1½ hrs on it theway i described.
doing it the tech article way causes the hinges to bind up when moving the glass around unless ya do it right and its easy to lose adj with it held open, plus that dang glass is HEAVY!!!
with my way ya leave the glass down and it moves around rathher easy.
