Remove Light Bar from bumper cover
Remove Light Bar from bumper cover
Hi,
The cover I got is from a 86 Camaro, and I noticed today that the light bar has a crack in it, so I was going to take the light bar out of my original bumper (84).
Well I'm looking at, and can't see how it comes off the bumper cover? I removed the bolts across the top, and now it looks like the light bar is connected via the bolts in the cover that secure the bumper cover to the fender? But I don't see a way to remove those?
How do you get the light bar off the cover?

It's called an impact bar. There are also push-in plastic clips along the bottom of the bumper cover into the impact bar. I'm pretty sure that there is no connection to the impact bar where the bumper cover meets the fenders.

I got it off,
I thought it was called the light bar? It's the part that the headlight mount too.
Isn't the impact bar, the peice that is lower and would be the actual bumper? Has the waffle look to it?
To get what I call the light bar off, the studs are part of the light bar and go through the cover (which are used to secure the cover to the fender). They have these little metal clips holding the 2 together. You have to take a pair of needle nose and back them off. Then the light bar is able to come off the bumper cover.

Re: Remove Light Bar from bumper cover
my mistake. I have a Trans Am and i wasn't in a Camaro mindset when I read your post. When I read light bar I thought of like a police car's lights on the roof. I did take apart a 3rd gen camaro front clip before but i don't really remember how it was assembled. Glad to hear you figured it out
