Body Work/Paint Prep

To save money on my paintjob I'd like to do all the prep work myself, preferably disassemble the car myself and simply take the pieces to my painter bits at a time and finally taking the car. My doors are full of dings and ripples. I've never done body work before, can somebody help me out with the learning process a bit? Where can I go to learn some basic things about ding removal/bondo work and can the beginner apply this to a daily driver thirdgen and make it look good?

Re: Body Work/Paint Prep

I'm about in the same boat as you, although - once I reach a certain point, I'm going to take mine to a body shop and have them finish up.

I did a search on this forums (advanced search) for titles containing 'rust' - I found a good many threads dealing with rust repair. Heck, try 'dent' etc..

I always use the advanced search and search titles only, since some words are practically in any post.

There's a ton in here now - search is definitely your friend. I'm about as 'newb' to body work as it gets too.

Look for any of the Paint and Body editions of Hot Rod, Car Craft , Super Chevy, etc. They've all got in depth articles with the products used that should get you on your way.
