Removing mudflaps, how to keep holes from rusting?

When I first got my car, it came with some cheesy looking mudflaps that I've about came to a conclusion they need to go. The thing is they're held in by screws and being inside the fenders, they tend to get wet when it rains. So, the holes are gonna rust really easily. What's the easiest fix for this if I decide to remove the flaps? Maybe some body filler and put touch up paint over it?

Unless you are ready to fix it right put some clear silicone.

Just leave them. Your paint will thank you and they're not even that noticeable (I never noticed you had them). I was going to get some factory mud flaps for my car but now that I have my 275s there's really no point since they stick out so much farther than stock.

I got mud flaps too. I like them, they keep the crap off the back fender. Especially when I was at the track!!

if you want to fix the holes properly, solder the holes, thats what i did for the holes left by the shitty mexican body work done on my door as instructed by a 20 year bodyman, then grind them down, no more holes.
