Grrr....Rust
Man this blows! I originally bought this car as a quick car I can fix from the auctions. When I looked at it there was some rust (mostly front fenders and doors which had to be replaced anyway) After finishing up the work on the front end, I decided to move on to the rear end. Now in the rear quarter panel (drivers side) it had two small holes by the wheel. One on the left side and one on the right. There was a bit of visible bondo work by them but it looked like the bondo only went down about half an inch. I decided to pry the top of the bondo off with a screwdriver in the hole. What a big mistake. As soon as I did that a HUGE chunk of bondo came flying off! Did the same on the right side and more bondo! Then I did the wheel well and even more massive chunks of bondo flew off! So my question is, do you think I can cut everything back to good metal and put in metal pieces and put primer on, or do I have to get a new rear quarter?

Rust on your car does suck pretty bad, but it's much worse when it's in your eye.(stuff happens when your sandblasting it away).

Ya I really don't know what im gonna do with it. I don't really have the cash for sending it to a body shop so it's mostly likely gonna be me bending sheet metal and patching it all up. I'm all ears for any other suggestions though lol. Since this thing is gonna be a cheap driver i would have done bondo, sheet metal and rivets, but since this thing has to pass an BIIC (Body Integrity Inspection Certificate) I can't do it cheaply. heres pics of some of the chunks of bondo that came off though lol. There freakin' huge!

I think you have several options...
1) Send it to a body shop and have them do everything (very expensive most likely)
2) Buy the rear quarter panel yourself and have a body shop simply weld it in and YOU do the rest (timely, but not AS expensive)
3) Buy the rear quarter yourself and ATTEMPT to weld it yourself and then do the body work yourself (timely AND possibility that you have it come out looking like a$$)
4) Get another 3rd Gen. Camaro from an auction
It just depends on what you can/can't do and what you can/can't afford.
