Re: Where can I get a hood like this one?
My bet is, the owner bought just the center section, then had it molded to his stock hood.
Looks just like the IROC turbo hood. I've just never seen a Bird with one.
On a side note....Why did they ever call it a turbo hood anyways? The IROC never had turbos, and I don't see the connection between turbos and those hoods anyways.

Yeah the fact that it might be custom made might be another possibility!

More than likely it's a Daytona hood from a Camaro mated to the hood of a 'Bird.
No. I take that back. It's the sides of the Daytona hood, with a 'Bird hood with the center raised. Sorry man, it's pretty custom.

Re: Where can I get a hood like this one?
I just sold my hood like that like six months ago. But I bought mine used off some guy in VA and it needed paint. It was sweet, the fiberglass hood was definately a huge weight reduction from the stock Formula hood!
The one that I had didn't look like it was custom, and if it was someone did an awesome job!

To me, I just think the Ram Air II hoods, should have all 4 nostrils, not just 2. Looks unfinished, to me.
If my Tahoe could have all 4, no reason a 3rd gen couldn't.
My little hole in space...

You can get the ASCD Daytona Turbo for Firebirds here http://www.americansportscardesigns.com/
I know someone that has that hood on a Firebird and it looks good. Here is a pic of mine although it is a Camaro. Perfect fit and no problems. Bought in 2001.

Known as the Daytona hood, was also part of the IMSA package, I think. Better than a whale tail

Yeah! looking at the daytona hood, it does sorta look funky on the t/a; I was willing to settle for one because the ram air hoods are bieng played out ...too many ppl have the already! I have my eye set on the Stingray (left) and super duty hood ( right) here are some pics:

Re: Where can I get a hood like this one?
To me, the 4th gen SS good belongs on Camaros, not Firebirds.
For a Firebird, I'd say Ram Air I for pre-90s. Ram Air II for 91/92s. I think those fit the lines the best.
G&T has CLAIMED they are making the Jongbloed hood for Firebirds, for about 3 months now. I was waiting n one, but I'm not waiting anymore, besides...they hardly ever answer phone calls, only answer half their emails, and as far as Customer Reviews, they usually get bad ones. No thanks.
At least Hawks get more good than bad, answer emails EVERY SINGLE TIME, , and actually come on here, and respond.

Re: Where can I get a hood like this one?
Nowhere...I Photochopped those pics!G&T CLAIMS to be working on them. I've been talking to them about making a Pontiac Jongloed hood, then sent them those pics MONTHS & MONTHS ago after they asked for them, and they said they would produce them, but the customer reviews on TGO have gone from bad, to down right shitty, so I'm not holding my breath anymore. Even if they DO make them, I'm spending my $ elsewhere.

From me Depending on how much you want to pay, check out the hood it's on the car right now my pics are at www.myspace.com/jimmyrigs hoods in good shape needs corners by windshield fixed but not bad at all. I've tried finding them before and can't pretty sure it is an older aftermarket hood but they are nice.

Re: Where can I get a hood like this one?
I still think the Daytona hood is the best aftermarket hood for the third gen Firebird. The Ram Air and the 4th gen WS6 looking hoods just seem too bubbly for the third gen body. The Daytona isn't much different than a normal cowl besides the vents down the sides there.
It is also pretty cool being able to see the top of your engine while you're driving down the road.

I just think the vents look rediculously *****. Too much going on to look all that good.
Re: Where can I get a hood like this one?
Yeah that's fugly, on a thirdgen bird I would go with any of the stock hoods, or possibly a Ram Air I 93-97 Style, and the Harwood 2" cowl isn't bad either

Not to be a picky s.o.b. but the ram air and 4th gen WS6 hoods are crossed off my list....they look just too damn bulgy for the boxy shape that the 3rd gens have. Right now I'm leaning towards the superduty hood; not too bulgy and the lines seem to fit the boxy shape perfectly....just my opinion. Any body know of any rare or uncommon aftermarket hoods for 3rd gen t/a's?

The WS6 hood does look "bulgy" to me, not to mention, it only has 2 nostrils, when there should be 4. I think the Ram Air 1 hood,93-97 style, fits our bodies good. Not too high, and the rectangular-ish openings, fit our 85-980 bodies/noses good.

Ive posted this picture before...
Im giving this hood a try. Its the harwood 3". I know harwood gets a bad rap for fitment, but I think most of those people think its going to bolt on and be perfect. Gotta take the time to make it line up.

I think with the areo spoiler it will flow even better.
Also, that "jonglboed " hood... That looks Kinds like the IMSA hood. Sort of like the formula power bulge hood, but with two bulges instead of one. It would be cool if they came out with it..but Im still not sure it "works". Too bubbly and curvy for the front of the birds. But thats just my opinion...and it could turn out looking fantastic. Ide like to see an actual hood tho as opposed to the photoshop.
J.
P.S.... Oh and no way on that first hood. UGh....

Re: Where can I get a hood like this one?
Ah....By the name 'Super Duty', I expected something Ford. Like the zFord Sper Duty trucks. It's just a 4th gen Camaro SS hood.
That would be fine on Camaros, but not Firebirds. To me, Camaros should stay Camaro, Firebirds should stay Firebird.
Of course, there are the universal things, like cowl induction, but I don't like those on Firebirds either.
I like the way the 93-97 Ram Air fits the existing "grooves" in the hood, running from the edge of the parking lights, back to the windshield.

I am with noahTHEpurdy, those holes on the side look like something that I thought was cool when I was 15. No offense to the guy running it, I just think it makes the car look like a$$, and cheap too.
I like the classy look of a cleanly installed cowl. It doesn't scream to get looked at, but when you do, damn they look good.
The best car modders in the world, like Chip Foose and the like say that the mods that make a car look the best are the ones you can't tell where done.
Thats how I built my car.

I bet at first glance you didn't notice:
-shaved door locks
-shaved side markers
-shaved fuel door
-shaved antenna
-no door moldings
-And of course the Cervini 3" cowl that makes a smoooth transition into the lines of the car.
Sorry for the dark pic.
