Re: Rolled on paint job....Check it out !!

Hmm, maybe i'll do this to my beater this winter. (my beater is my TA)

I would spray, but the $1000 compressor, $200 gun, etc etc is keeping me back from that

How did you thin the paint? Acetone? Something else? What ratio? What size and style of roller? I was wondering how you'd get the roller into strange places, door handle divots, headlight pockets etc etc? A brush or sponge or something?
All sanding was wetsanding? By hand? Longboard or palm sized wooden block?
Thanks

Hats off for trying it. I myself would rather buy a HVLP gun and learn to paint two stage just because I see it as an art / skill. I agree witht the past post of this roll on method being an easier learning curve that produces semi to fully acceptable results. Again, hats off to you for trying, looks pretty decent given the low light pics but it's not for me.

Sonix: Check out the moparts thread. Granted, it's extremely long, but you'll find out A LOT. Everyone's mixtures, their sanding techniques, their polishing techniques, colors that work well, colors that don't. While it'd be nice to have a quick and easy guide, those threads are a gigantic database of knowledge.

Yea, I think I read part of it before, not all though (holy cow it's long).

How about a link to it? I can't find it now...

I used a $50 gun and a $300 air compressor and had excellent results. You don't NEED the really expensive stuff but it sure makes it easier.
