ATTENTION: THOSE WHO HAVE FIXED POWER ANTENNAS - How do I get this thing open?
I bought a broken power antenna so I could fix it. I got it yesterday, and I fixed the wiring this morning. It does run but the mast is stuck half way out (it can't be moved by hand either). I want to open this thing up before I buy the cord repair kit. Obviously, those clips need to come off and the 3 rivets need to come out, but how do I get the rivets out? I tried drilling them but they just spin around. I'd like to get this thing open today if possible. Also, how hard is the new cord to put in?
Thanks.
Thanks.

If they spin, you mighgt need to grind the heads off, like with a Drremel. A standard grinder will work good, you just have to be a bit more careful.

stick a flat head driver between the two sides so there ie tension and then try to drill it

According to the service manual, they're not rivets but eyelets. I took a small drill bit on the Dremel and put it in an an angle and turned it on and ground down one side and then it popped out. The last one I was able to just bend in one side and knock it out.
Anyway, the problem is definately the nylon cable. The motor appears to be in good working order. I just ordered the repair kit from MDM. Does anyone know how this installs?
