7:45 this morning I was on my way to school for an 8:00 class. I was coming up on an intersection and I saw that it was backed up beyond the intersection so I decided to stop before the line even though the light was green so as to not block the intersection (typical downtown morning traffic). I come to a stop and about a second later WHAM, I got slammed from behind by a late model Honda sedan. The impact pushed me about a car length and a half into the intersection. Police estimated that at impact he was going 30 mph. His front end was COMPLETELY destroyed. I wish I had pics, his hood was all crunched up, all lights smashed. His radiator popped and spewed hot coolant over my ENTIRE car.

I got tossed around. Emergency crews showed up and at this point I was pretty much unable to move. I was pulled from the car and taken by ambulance to the nearest hospital. On top of the typical body aches I have a severe neck strain and am in a neck brace, not supposed to be driving for at least a week. I wasn't sitting all the way back in my seat, so the rapid forward motion of the car caused me to hit the back of my neck on the top of the head rest (I'm 6'2" tall).

Anyway here are pics of my Camaro. I'm going to be taking it to a body shop - any suggestions on what I should say to them? I need to get an estimate to submit to the insurance company. It's amazing to me how little my car is damaged. It was a hard hit.

 

Mine did exactly the same thing about 5 years ago. A freaking Honda destroyed itself on my rear bumper after traffic got backed up. The only thing different is that my rear exit exhaust was bent all to hell. I guess it was a good thing I had installed Spohn sub-frame connectors the week before.

 

dark if thats all the damage you got then you are among the VERY lucky few. look at your panels above the rear wheels and see if it looks pushed out or any buckling.
also another place to look is the door jams and the hatch jam area. if all those places looks undisturbed then you might be ok.

 

All my lines are straight. No tweaked gaps. All doors, t tops, and hatch open and close as they should and always have. I guess he just got under me, as you can see by the pic down by my muffler. Those scratches go damn near all the way to my muffler, which is a really tight and small place for a car to squish itself.

I was siting at a stop sign and the kid behind floored it from a stand still and when he hit me it totalled my 89 rs and he was only 4 feet behind me and driving an eclipse, the only thing that broke on his car was his tag and my car had no signs of being hit so i told him nevermind about calling the cops until i went to get in my car and noticed i had a big *** dent over the wheel well on both sides my *** end had droped like 3/4 to an inch so they totalled it but it was all good i only had 500 into it and got 1300 so it left me some money to put into my 90 rs

 

any advice on what i should tell the body shop or have them look for?

 

Any body shop worth their weight should know what to look for. Just tell them you got rear ended and you want them to go over the car and look for any other hidden damage.
