Re: Orlando Paint/Body Shop

Guys, I had my 89 IROC painted at Auto Masters in north Kissimmee, south Orlando area. It is near the corner of Osceola parkway and Michigan ave. not far from the turnpike, about 1/2 mile from the exit actually.

This is a pic a day before spraying the color.

This is a pic before buffing and color sanding.

I can recommend them, they did a very good job, especially since I stripped the car for them, to save money. They still went along with me being a pain trying to save some dough and even saved me more since i'm buffing it myself and applying the stickers as well.

Most of the shops I talked with wanted $400 and did cheapo work, or wanted $4,000+ materials and weren't looking for a realistic nice driver style paintjob. These guys fell right in between, just right for me.

Re: Orlando Paint/Body Shop

The origional quote was $1500, but of course during dissasembly we found hidden rust under the gfx, rear hatch weather strip, a bent bumper brace in front from a light collision, etc. This added $500, which included welding panels, removing the windshield, etc. So , I spent $2,000, plus I bought new weather stripping, door handles, front bumper, headlight adjusters, decals, door edge moudlings, t tops(used), tail lights(used). I have about $2800 in cosmetics, so it is far from a Maaco job.

I stripped off the weather stripping, door panels, handles, and locks, rear interior panels(for access to the tail lights after arriving at the body shop), turn signals, wheel well shields in front, door jam vent grills and rocker kick panels.

They took off the gfx, rear wing and front and rear bumpers for painting seperate.

I still need to sand and buff, but it looks good even before that. Maybe if your at Old town one Friday night a couple weeks from now i'll see you there. I won't make this friday, plans out of town.

Re: Orlando Paint/Body Shop

I didnt quite understand what you said. was it $1500 just to shoot the car with paint? you mentioned you taking all the weatherstrip and ground fx pieces off yourself right? how many layers of paint and clear are they going to do for you? did they do the door jams too or just the outside? let me know when you will hit old town and i will try to make it there. saturdays are when they have the car parades. i went 3 weeks ago and it was great.

Re: Orlando Paint/Body Shop

He quoted $1500 for paint and dissassembly of most components. But obviously you'll need to go down and have him look at your car. Mine was pretty straight and clean to begine with, just peeling clear and a few dings. Of course this is not counting the rust we found taking things apart, LOL.

Btw, here is a pic of an air inlet I painted for my buds 87 IROC.
