Did any 91/92 clusters ever have white numbers?

I had a cool idea for my 91/92 style instrument cluster using LEDs, but it looks like the yellow numbers are painted on the front of each gauge, and doesn't appear to be a way to get it off without ruining the gauge.

Did any 91/92 style cluster ever come with white/clear numbers?

or does anyone know of a way to totally swap out the factory face on the gauge with a new one?

I don't believe any of them came with white numbers,I'm 100% sure ,but not 110%.I don't know about changing it,but you could possibly remove the clear plastic part on the back and clean the yellow paint off with some thinner, but that would probably damage the black part of the gauge face.Maybe you could find a gauge piece in a junkyard and do some experimenting.I would deff. go that route,I know you've done alot of work on this dash setup, and you don't want to destroy anything.

Ya I'm pretty bummed that the yellow paint seems to be painted on the front of the gauge, instead of from behind. If it was behind, I thought I could use some acetone or something to get it off, without any of my work showing on the front.

I'll think of something, I had a cool idea for LEDs on this!

OK, I thought I remembered seeing something

According to Camaroboy, these were out of a V6.

Can anyone else verify that the V6 models had white lettering?
If so, is there a way to make the V6 tach work in a V8?

I just remembered, this cluster style was also used in 90 too.
Maybe the 90 V6 has the white lettering?

Anyone have a 90 V6, what color is your cluster?

the 90-92 clusters were all yellow.....that was part of the "new package" from mid 90-92. ive seen some that almost look white though, but its just from sun-fading.

u could possibly just buy an overlay

An overlay won't work because the yellow writing will still be under the white. So when lit up the yellow will still show through. I think the only way to do this woudl be remove the face off the gauge all together and then put an overlay on. Not sure how hard this will be tho

I might just try and also try and remove the yellow, and see what happens. If I mess it up, I can buy another cluster
