H3 HID conversion for Fog lamps

Anyone know or have the seen first hand the size of the bulb size of a H3 style HID type setup. Was just curious if they you fit a 91-92 firebird housing

If birds (Im a Camaro guy) have H3 style lamps, it will be a bolt in procedure. If not, I really doubt they "lock" correctly into place.

Re: H3 HID conversion for Fog lamps

My conundrum is inside the bird foglamp is like a lil bulb shield and the stock H3 bulb sit directly behind it in the housing. I dont know if this is a heat shield or what the true purpose is. But if those HID style bulbs are much larger then the factory H3 bulb which is just tiny. This shield will block the bulb from being able to seat. I would supose though that the HIDs throw off less heat the the normal 35 or 55w H3. The heat shield could be some how drilled out.

Re: H3 HID conversion for Fog lamps

I bought an 880 HID kit for the fog lights in my Camaro and I had to take a screw driver and push on that bulb shield to give the bulb a little bit more room, then the HID fit without touching. I can't say if this will work or not with the H3 bulb because I'm not sure how long a regular halogen H3 bulb is.

Pull the shield out. I did over a year ago,but I'm still running the stock 55w bulbs. Just haven't put new brighter bulbs in yet.

FREE upgrade

While your at it...Did you know? The fog lights go off, when your switch to your high beams?
Fix that too here

Re: H3 HID conversion for Fog lamps

My fog lights were busted all to hell, so I just junked them and went with a $20 round aftermarket pair mounted in the stock locations and hooked into the stock wiring. It looks really good on the 91-92's IMO. They're extremely bright.
