front bumper repair
The 91 Firebird Formula I just bought has some damage to the front bumper, when the former owner had a few too many drinks and took issue with a parking meter that had expired...
The front bumper had a decent crack in it, but its not too severe and probably repairable. however, its missing a small piece (maybe 8-12 inches?) of ground effect on the front right of the car which is between the front bumper and the beginning of the wheel well.
I want to replace it, but I don't even know what to call it, let alone where to find it. Anyone have ideas?

Re: front bumper repair
not the air dam (i don't think), its not on the actual front bumper, its on the right side of the car, picking up where the bumper ends, going to the wheel well. If my description is too vauge I'll post a pic of the damage after I get home and see if anyone can tell me what is missing.

I have looked at about 7 different websites selling the plastic for under the fender on your year Formy and can't kind anyone that has one. You may want to look into a pick and pull, or a dealership

It sounds like you are talking about a ground effect on the front of the fender that is missing. I would check ebay, craigslist, or a junkyard.
There are a few salvage yards that specialize in Camaros and Firebirds, but I can’t remember the names of them right now, hopefully someone else on here will remember them.
As for the front bumper, I would replace it. At very least pull it off and see if any damage has been done to the metal backing plate, or the plastic impact absorber thing.

Re: front bumper repair
While replacing the water pump last night, I was under the front bumper picking up things I had dropped (the tool you need the most is the one that you will drop most often) and noticed significantly more damage on it than I thought there was. Fiberglass and bondo can only go so far, and I may be beyond fixing this one. Looks like I'm probably looking for the ground effects as well as the nose.
