Need help replacing hatch lock cyclinder
Could someone please tell me where I can find a hatch lock cylinder for a 86 Trans Am. And how do I fix it from the inside?(or outside) I appreciate your help.

Your best bet is the junk yard (make sure you get a key) or place an ad here in the parts wanted section. There is a c-clip that holds it in and you access it from the inside.

junk yard or classic industries has them (classicindustries.com). You can even buy an entire new set for your car so they all match. Otherwise, as far as removal:
- remove interior trim over pull down motor
- mark location of 3 pulldown motor bolts and remove the pull down unit
- twist the lock cable on the inside of the cylinder counter clockwise (will look/feel like your going to break but it won't)
- remove the tail lights (at least the center piece)
- get a 1/4" drill bit and drill out the old lock cylinder
- get 2 1/4" rivits from your local chevy/pontiac dealer along with a special big riviter, and install new lock cylinder
that should just about cover it. Looks overwhelming, but it's pretty simple.

Re: Need help replacing hatch lock cyclinder
I'm having a really hard time getting that plastic piece off from the inside. I took all the screws off and it won't come off. It feels like something from the other side where I can't get to is holding it. Like right in the middle at the top, where the trunk light in locatated. If anyone has any tips on how to get it off I would appreciate it. Thanks.
