Body damage!

well, long story short, friday night i threw a belt, overheated and parked the car on a hill. Then i forgot to put it in gear, ( its a 5 speed and the parking brake does not work, i guess thats important to know) and after i walked about 50 feet away it started to roll and traveled about 8 feet into a guard rail. I felt so helpless and stupid as i ran in vain back to try and stop it.

So i have a bit of repair work ahead of me, nothing too serious, the panel is not really creased and the panel as a whole is not distorted, but there is a dent or two there.
I just upset i was so stupid and had this happen. Needless to say i fabbed up some new parking brake cables yesterday to get the ls1 brakes working.

hopefully i will get it to the shop this week and see what the damage to my wallet will be.

yup! the whole night was a series of small problems that all snowballed together and created a huge mess of an evening. A short trip around town turned into a 3hr ordeal

Aww man!! That stinks!

Small but still sucks when you hurt your car.

Did you change the belt yet?

I am sure it was just your water pump not pumping that caused the engine to overheat.

Re: Body damage!

That really sucks that it didn't just roll right after you let the brakes off. I don't remember what your car looks like, but maybe you can use this as an excuse to shave the antenna or fill in the license plate holes.

Something similar happened to my car one time. It was my dad's daily driver before he gave it to me and restored it. He had it parked at the top of our icy driveway in the winter, went in our garage to get some salt, walked back out only to find out the car was gone. After a quick examination, he realized it slid down the driveway into a snow bank. Not quite sure how he got it out.. but he did and with no damage

As much as that sucks, at least it only damaged those two panels and not the whole side or even the hood. Good luck getting it fixed, hope it all goes well.

Re: Body damage!

That sucks.
From the pictures it looks like your car was in pretty great shape body wise.
Damage to ones car sucks no matter what, but for me it always sucks more when it happens to a car that is pretty close to perfect.
