A little help!

My car is gettin older, and I have a few minor problems going on and just seeing if I could get some advice that maybe I haven't thought of doing yet!

The main problem being my window. I've taken it to the dealership and they said I needed a new motor and regulator. Motor I know for sure but I have been told that I could probably get by without a new regulator. The dealership will charge around $700, which being a college student I can't exactly afford. Is it true you can only buy the motor from GM? And could I get by without the regulator? How hard is it to replace the motor myself?

Then the couple other things I have goin' on is my cruise control and my brights wont work. Is there something going on with the wiring in that wand on the steering wheel maybe? And lastly my side view passenger mirror was broken during a hail storm. Chevy doesn't make the part anymore, do I need to look for a whole side mirror w/ exterior part or is it possible to change out just the mirror part so I don't have to worry about painting the side mirror??

Thank you so much if you could help out with any information!

$700? That's freakin ridiculous, even for dealer prices. They're not impossible to change at home, you'll need a drill, and a pop-rivet gun. The motors are riveted to the door frame, you have to drill out the old rivets, and put new ones in. You could use bolts if you wanted. Check ebay, or Hawk's carries them:

The cruise control could be a few things, but check the vacuum lines going to it first. It's the big cone shaped thing on the driver fenderwell, with a cable going to the throttle body. Also, it is possible to replace the mirror guts, at least with a manual mirror. I'm sure it can be done with power mirrors as well, I've just never had to do it. If you have a manual mirror, tilt it all the way down, and you'll see the phillips head screws that hold the assembly in. Hawks carries used mirrors, but I would check the junkyard first, you could probably get one cheaper:
