How much does the body shell weigh?
I have a stripped body shell I want to make a dolly for so I can move it around while I do the body work and I want to make sure whatever I build is strong enough. Anyone know how much the body shell by itself weighs?
Re: How much does the body shell weigh?
Since no one has answered, I thought I would try to give you a ballpark value. Better than nothin', huh?
My 69 Camaro bare shell weighs 600 lbs. The 3rd gen might be a bit more since there is the body structure forward of the firewall to consider.

yeah, I was thinking about 800-900 pounds but I don’t know, It’s sitting on 4 jack stands now and I can lift up the front but it may just be the way its sitting on the rear jack stands.

Well, hey, if it's stripped down now, just beg, buy or borrow some bathroom scales. They will probably have the capacity to weigh all four corners. That's how I weighed mine.

I'd guess no more than 700 lbs... 3rd gens weigh about the same as first gens and the unibody doesn't really add much weight to the shell.
