Painting the bumpers
Painting the bumpers
So i'm looking to paint the bumper covers, and i have been doing a bunch of reading on the subject on this site and others and have about 500 different answers. So i guess the first question is; Do i need to take off the old paint, there is nothing wrong with it, i just don't like the colour. That being said if i don't have to take of the paint do i need to use adheshion promoter like you would on a bare plastic part? Also i have read mixed reviews about flex agent. First do i need it at all? second do i need it if i am painting over the old paint? I have done a few cars and the results havent been to bad, but none of them had the plastic bumper covers like the thirdgens so i need a bit of help with this one.
Thanks for the replys
I'm not looking for anything showroom either, if i was i would get it professionally done, this is my daily driver cuz it is better on gas than my work truck and it looks better.

Re: Painting the bumpers
what brand paint are you using? most paints have a flex agent in it already now. i mean think about all the cars with plastic bumpers out their these days. you should see what some of the bumpers look like after coming out of baking in the paint booth at work. we bake everything @ 130-140 degress for 20-30 min and those plastic bumpers just about fold over on themselves.
