Notchback questions
Hey guys, I'm re-doing the body on my 89 this fall, and I'm strongly considering doing a notchback, since the hatch drives me nuts here in this weather.. The heat for one, is just a killer. Anyway, if I change it over, will I have to replace my hatch motor, and NOS hatch struts? With the hawks, does it require much body work?
Thanks, KP

Re: Notchback questions
i dont think any body work is required. its a direct "bolt on". maybe swith to lighter hatch struts. or if youres are worn they may work.

Re: Notchback questions
Fitment on mine is a 98, has been sitting aorund a shop for years never installed. I had to grind some of the outter lip to clear the stock hinges, it needs to be a flat area and it has a whole premiter lip that it doesn't effect hatch seal or looks. Gonna hafta take mine back off and open up the bolt holes in the body to the left a bit to shift it over. Not enough slack on the hinges to do it and don't want to do that the the holes in the fiberglass.
I had to space my shocks out a little and they should be fine as is.
I have one good one and 1 bad, its still not enough to lift it, but I think its cause of that steep angle.
Wrap steel wires around yours when taking off so it can extend out, to get back on easier. them suckers are stronger then a car shock, I can push one of them up and bolt it down. Took 2 of us to get my one good shock on. Them suckers are strong but again I think it from that wacky lifting angle.
hatch motor is fine.
