Surface Rust

I've found webpages suggesting the use of naval jelly and steel wool to remove surface rust. I happen to have a container of aircraft stripper and was wondering if that would work in place of the naval jelly.

Re: Surface Rust

Naval jelly is made for rust removal.
The paint striper is gonna take all the paint off.

How bad is it? got pic's? Personally id just take a DA and sand it. then again I can paint and do body work.

Id recomend the Naval jelly, some good self etching primer and paint it.

Re: Surface Rust

lowes or other, find bear concreat etch and rust remover. That will be muric acid, mix 50/50 with water. Fast acting rust killer like RAID, burn you good also. Or other brans will say safer then muric acid and it is phforsic [spel] acid and does work still, just a bit slower. Kills rust dead.

Same junk ya buy from auto body stores.

Permatxt sells something in a can that is similar. like a clear paint with rust killer in it. Ya spray on 2-3 coats, rust dies n turns black, clear coating keeps it dry. But small can is like $8

I sanded and wire brush the few small spot on my new door, soaked down with pure phforsic [spel] acid from menards[ concreat etch from paint dept.], hit with that permatxt stuff, then either primed or hosed down with spray on undercoating.

Spent to much to not protect the new door.
