Where the strut mounts to the hatch (not on the body) the opening in the strut is kinda rectangle... when you buy a new one, do you get the plastic piece in there that fits the strut that the bolt goes through?

Also, are all these struts the same, I know some hatches had wiper's etc, were there any that were "stronger" than others?

yes,the best I can remember new ones come w/the plastic piece.
and yes,the t/a gta cars got stronger struts due to the weight of that rubber junk spoiler.

 

I need new struts anyway but I have to have em with that plastic piece the screw goes into since I'm fabbing up this notchback... Anyone else confirm?

What year GTA should I ask for?

I think I would prefer the stronger ones, I don't think the notchback is that much lighter than the standard glass, plus more of the weight is in the back as opposed to the glass where its near the front...
