Diff in quarter panel skin and panel?

I've got a 91 camaro. And I am looking for a new driver side quarter fora few reasons. i am shaving the gas tank door and there are multiple dents (big dents) on some pretty hard body line. I'm having a hard time fixing them so will just probably replace it. Anybody know where I can get a quarter panel and what is the the diff in a quarter skin and a quarter?

Numerous companies are around that sell quarters, goodmark, classic industries, and year one are a few. From what i see in the classic industries book a quarter skin does not have the extension going up to the roof. Where a quarter panel does hope this helps. Also where do you plan on putting the gas tank door?

Re: Diff in quarter panel skin and panel?

A quarter panel skin will only have the outer sheet metal and will need to be welded all the way along the top and sides, then filled. A full quarter panel will go inside the hatch area, inside the door jamb, etc. The full quarter is much less bondo, grinding, welding. The skin is cheaper to buy, more work to install.

Well i'll probably get a new skin since they are pretty cheap. I'm planning on either routing the gas filler under a hinged license plate or I just might use a fuel cell.
