91 gfx on a 82

Has anyone try to put 91-92 aero gfx on an earlier car.

I tried test fitting the rocker panel piece and looks like the gfx is about 1" to 2" shorter than the rocker.

The car is a 82. anybody else run into this issue. I thought pontiac never changes the size of the unibody b/w 92 and 92.

any insight is really appriciated.

Re: 91 gfx on a 82

the rocker panels need the bracket that extends out to bolt the panels on

might need to replace the bumpers with 91-92 not sure of how it would look without the 91-92 style bumpers

i wouldnt do it unless your ready to paint the car

trying to do this kind of mod is tricky unless your going to sand down and repaint anyway

I have those pieces you are talking about. I am planning on repainting the whole car.

The length I was refreing to id from the front of the rear wheel whell to the back of the front wheel well.

I will take some measurements today and post up some pictures for clarification.

Re: 91 gfx on a 82

no measurements need to be taken just put on the 91-92 bumpers

drill holes into the fenders and doors for the ground effects bolts bolt them on

no measurements r needed just line up the bolts to see where to dril the holes

82-92 same frame same fenders etc.. just different bumpers and different holes to bolt different style ground effects thats it
and atttach that adapter brackets for the rockers and your all done!

I have 91 gfx on my 82 you will need to make new holes for the brackets that connect the rear quarter gfx on but that should be it

Re: 91 gfx on a 82

I put the 91 aero gfx on my 87 bird. I had to swap the spot welded bracket on the rocker from the aero car to attach them along the side but other than that and a few other holes that needed drilling everything was straightforward
