non power Radio Antenna

Below is a picture of the antenna hardware on the front fender. I got a new antenna nut and was looking to order the bezel and the cap that goes over it. This is for an 82 Firebird. I can find the bezel but not the cap and was told that GM never used a cap, the nut just screws down on the bezel. Because of my location there are no other thirdgens close to me so I can't look at anyone elses car. So I was wondering does anyone else have this arrangment on the fender. I was even told that what's on my car is not factory original which I believe it is.

Thank.

I've been working in a Pontiac bodyshop since thirdgens were new and I don't believe I've ever seen a cap like that under the nut.

I don't believe that it is an aftermarket thing as why would anyone do it. The cap has a hole in it where the nut fits into perfectly.

I've owned about 300 thirdgens and have never seen anything like that piece in the middle. If it's a factory piece it would have been an export type thing. What's weird it that the stud is sticking out from the top of the nut about the right amount which means the stud is much longer than factory.

That is indeed weird. I thought it would be no bother getting that piece then I find out it shouldn't be there.
