glasstek hoods

ive been lookin at getting a glasstek 4" cowl hood but i keep looking at pics and i see a big lip on the hoods where they go over the headlights is this a flaw in the mold or something i can fix i like the hood but this i just cant figure out thanks

I have a harwood cowl hood and it has the lip also. When the hoods are molded they have a lip all the way around. You have to grind the lip off in order for it to fit, the area in front over the headlights I ground it down to about a 1.4 in. It also helps with strength and stability of the hood. I pretty much left the entire lip down the sides but ground it off the front and rear of the hood.

id just use a regular grinder. ive been wanting to buy a cowl hood as well and i have NO clue what one i want. whats the major differences in them?
