HELP! Headlights will not manually open!
HELP! Headlights will not manually open!
I did a search and found nothing addressing my particular problem, so here goes. My headlights quit coming up on their own about two weeks apart...first one then the other
The motors still spin, but they dont lift the lights so I bought the delux repair kit from TDS to repair what I believe is worn out (bushings).
Problem is, I can't get the headlights to come up manually...TDS instructions say to "manually raise headlight by lifting on it while turning motor **** counter-clockwise". I tried this and it didn't work on either light. Then I used my Haynes repair manual and it said to "turn the **** clockwise till it clicks and the headlight will rise"...nothing.
Has anyone had this problem? Any ideas on how to get them up so I can remove them?

Your bushings are so crumbled they wont allow the motors to begin to raise the headlights. Follow the shaft on the side of the motor that lifts the headlight, it will be attached to a small black arm attached to a rod that lifts the bucket. The arm is jammed in closed, a moderate force tug should free it up allowing you to raise the headlight

Thanks for the suggestion Pocket, but it didn't work out for me. I believe my only option now is to take the front facia off so that I can get to the bolts?

Shake the bucket while lifting and turning the ****. You may need to make it a two man job. Sorry you waited so long to do the repair.

Pocket is right, Follow the shaft on the side of the motor that lifts the headlight, it will be attached to a small black arm attached to a rod that lifts the bucket. The arm is jammed in closed
but try using a long flathead screwdriver to pry the arm a little, where they fold into each other. its hard to explain. but it will work.
