I have a crease in my hood, and I was wondering if I can cut the bracing underthe hood just where the crease is so I can fix and stregnthen (sp) the hood. Any help?

Some hoods you can unbolt the bracing. I dont know for certain if this is possible with the thirdgen hoods or now. If you DO have to cut the brace, make sure you weld something in there if you take a whole piece out. These hoods are flimsy already. Notching it for something like an intake is one thing, but chopping a whole section out...is not something Id leave out for long

 

To anwser your question, No. If the crease is bad enough that you would have to cut the hood bracing to fix it, get a new hood. Hood's are cheap. Unless you're talking about the ALWAYS over priced 4 vent gta hood. Where are you located? I have a base (black) Firebird hood from my '91 I'd be willing to let go of.

I have two hoods, both have dents, I think the org hood I can het to without any cutting, but I have a power bulge hood with a crease. How much you want for it? I'm in California.

 

You certainly can cut the underhood bracing out. Fix the hood skin, then weld the bracing back in. Like FYRCHKN did, building his own custom hood.

Keep in mind, that the bracing isn't really welded to the skin, but rather.....Has an epoxy filler that cushions & supports the skin, more than actually adheres.
