Need help installing and aligning front bumper
Hey guys. I removed the bumper almost 2 years ago and now on reinstalling I suspect I am not getting everything reinstalled correctly. I have about a 3.4" gap between the nose and the hood with the hood closed. The hood is aligned pretty much dead on.
If anyone has any diagrams that show all the supports for the front bumper, perhaps I am missing some. Or do you think its just years of sag? I am getting the car painted next week so if its sag I need to get a new one on the way. Or has anyone successfully fixed the sag?
Any information on the subject would be helpful!

Pictures would help a lot.
I suspect the hood alignment may not be as correct as you assume.
general front end assembly/alignment for these vehicles
would go something like:
-- fenders correctly aligned to doors, then parallel to each other,
and set to the correct separation for the hood (i.e. hood +1/4"
on each side), and level across the fenders at front & rear.
-- attach the front bumper, and align to the fenders. If memory
serves correctly, adjustment is limited to the size of mounting
holes in the sub-frame where the bumper assembly fastens,
with the 8 nuts. Bumper skin is then secured tightly to the
front fenders.
-- THEN set the hood in, and align to the front bumper, since the
rear sill/windshield area is below the hood. Matching to fenders
at rear is by shiming the hinge assembly. At front, use the adjustable
bumpers in the core support. Then fine tune the latch position for
secure closing.
At least that's how I attacked assembly on the formula.
Good luck.
