Outer door felt strip replacement
I know there are two or more threads on this topic already, but they weren't really much help. I am trying to get around the door glass to get the last two screws out so I can ditch my cracked and broken felt strips. One thread said to use a 7mm. This doesn't work as I have phillip screws and can't get a wrench on it in the first place. The other one said to remove the glass, which follows the body manual for replacing it. But looking at everything theres gotta be a way to remove the phillip screws without removing the glass completely.
I want to get these done because I am doing my triangles and door weatherstrips. I can get at the screws easily (other than those two) now that the triangles and door stripping is removed. If I do have to remove the glass what do I have to do to get the rivets or whatever they are out, and how do I get those same rivets (or their replacements) back in so I can reinstall the glass? I would prefer not to touch the glass yet but it just seems stupid to take it all apart and not do the outer felt strips.
I am doing the doors while the car is outside due to easy access (doors can be opened all the way) the roof and the glass panels will be done when the car is in the garage. Thanks.

Re: Outer door felt strip replacement
a short phillips bit (like the one that goes in a drill ) in a pair of vice grips worked good for me . and back the inner felts off all the way , the gold peices with felt that hold the window tight , that will give you the room for the bit to fit . good luck it can be a pain in the ***.

Re: Outer door felt strip replacement
I had simmilar trouble. if take the door panel of their are to little felt tipped brackets that push up against the windsheild to keep it tight against the outside felt strip. i took those off to try to lean the window in as far as it'll go. then used the opened end of a 7mm wrench.
