Anyone know the correct color for the screens inside the GTA/TA Hood louvers. I know the screens on the vents on the sides are black so I assume the front ones are supposed to be black as well. I was going to paint these gold to match the trim on the GTA. Not the vents themselves just the screen/mesh inside the vents. What do you think?

 

on my 86 TA, and a spare hood i have, the screens for the side vents are black plactic, and the front vents are aluminum, raw silver color.

 

Agreed, the side vent screens near the back of the hood are black plastic. However, the front ones I have seen on OE hoods are actually black colored, much like the side screens. However, if the paint or black coating starts to fade off, they are a silver metal color under that. Maybe new OEM ones come bare and you have to paint them black.

Either way they appear to be a semi-flat black in color, very little gloss to be correct.

Personally I think that would look a little tacky being gold inside the vents, but that's just my opinion.

 

The ones on my wifes 87 gta were black and I redid them that way. Her car is flame red metallic but has some cheap cragar steeles on it. I like them black on her car.

That said. I think on a flame red gta with the gold wheels and correct emblems the gold screens would look cool ! Just the plastic screens behind the louvers.
